{Bumpdate} 14 weeks

This is for me as much as it is for everyone who has been asking for updates or the basic details. Blogging... the perfect way to document pregnancy and child growth, right? If only I were more of a stickler about taking pictures.........

Oh well. A cheesy picture in a grocery store will have to do, right?

How far along: 14 weeks

Baby is: The length of a peach (see above picture!) although every pregnancy app/website/etc. I look at says something different... some say lemon, some say the size of my clenched fist or a flip phone... I'm going with peach, it seems to be the most common option.

Symptoms: Headaches if I don't get enough water, don't get enough sleep, or if I stay up too late. Also, all last week I had blood-rushes to my head every time I stood up, which would make my vision go fuzzy, but I haven't had as much of an issue with that the past few days. Other than those symptoms and the occasional twinge from my stretching muscles in my abdominal area, I'm fairly symptom-free. Not to mention my first trimester was very easy. I'm lucky. Meanwhile, I seem to have lost weight since I got pregnant. Weird? Yes.

Sleeping: I keep going to bed later and waking up later. This is the opposite of what I intended, so I'm back to making my bedtime earlier so I can get up earlier. I haven't had much trouble actually sleeping, though.

Food cravings: I keep wanting Ramen. I've also wanted tomato soup all weekend, but we're out of milk (waiting for our fridge to get fixed) and I refuse to make tomato soup with water. Yuck.

Food aversions: None, really. There will be foods that I don't feel like eating, but the thought of them doesn't make me sick or anything.

What I'm missing: Medium steak. Now I'm supposed to have everything cooked so that it's well-done. It just doesn't taste as good as medium!

Gender: Don't know yet, although old wives' tales about having no morning sickness during the first trimester indicates it's a boy. Evidently, girls make you sick and boys don't. On the other hand, girls supposedly give you acne, and I definitely have some of that. We'll see in 6 weeks!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or Moody? Happy :)

Belly button in or out? In, and showing no signs of popping out any time soon

Maternity clothes: Not wearing any yet. My jeans don't even feel tight! I know I'll have to get some soon though because Doug insists that I am showing a little now, even though I think it's something only he and I notice, really.

Movement: The baby isn't big enough for me to be able to feel anything yet. That baby is definitely moving though! We had an ultrasound the other week and baby was wiggling, flipping, doing the worm... a regular break-dancer, our own little jumping bean :)

What I did/got for baby: We haven't gotten anything for baby yet, really. I just want to wait until I know the gender! I suppose we do have some Disney books that I got for a very good price (fun titles like Up, The Incredibles, Monsters University, Frozen...) but other than that, nothing. We still have over half a year though, so...

What I'm looking forward to: Finding out the gender!

Best moment of the week: Well, this was more like almost two weeks ago, but I loved telling my siblings. My parents knew since the day after Doug and I found out I was pregnant, but I waited to tell my siblings until I was at the threshold between 1st and 2nd trimesters, just in case something went wrong. I got a screen capture of their reactions, even though the lighting is awful. My youngest sister clutched her head for who-knows-how-long and kept saying "I'M GOING TO BE AN AUNT!" It was pretty cute.

I sent an email to my other brother too - he's currently serving a 2 year LDS mission in West Virginia, so I can't call or Skype him but I can email him all I want - and he's excited too.

Also, please note that the words "grandma" and "grandpa" will now apply to my parents and I think it's very funny. My mom's brothers think it's funny too, since they're all still years away from being grandparents, and they claim they won't let her live it down. The joys of getting older :P

    1. Oooo, congrats to you! We're probably due fairly close to the same time, I'm assuming. And my mom tries to fight back by calling them "great-uncles" but that doesn't stop them. Oh brothers...
