How We Wore It // Fall Transition

I don't ever collaborate or link up with other bloggers anymore... but after seeing Brooke host this fashion challenge month after month, I had to get in on the action just this once! It's such a fun idea, I couldn't resist.

SO.

We were given an image of a fancy shmancy fashion blogger wearing something fabulous, and we were supposed to re-create our own version of the outfit using items that we already had in our closets while trying to look equally fabulous. HA. And now we see why I could never be a fashion blogger.

Our inspiration this month:

The first thing I saw in this picture was the ORANGE! And the second thing I saw when I ran to my closet is that I DON'T OWN ORANGE CLOTHES!

With that in mind, I drew inspiration from the neutral accessories and went with a neutral top that kind of flows around the bottom and wore an orange scarf (okay, it's coral, but let's just say it's as orange as a carrot, or an orange starburst, or whatever orange-colored food floats your boat. Yes, it has to be a food.) to accent the outfit. I finished the look with skinnies and neutral pumps.

Wearing pumps with jeans isn't something I normally do. I kind of like it!

The short-sleeved sweater I'm wearing is a great transition piece. It has the cozy feel of a sweater, but since we're at that awkward time of year where it's freezing in the morning and burning in the afternoon (because Utah weather is in a constant state of menopause or something) I can just wear a fall trench coat over it in the morning and remove the coat to stay cool as the day gets hotter!

Mmmm, I LOVE sweater weather!

Aaaaaand... a certain baby kept crawling into the shots. But I'm not complaining.

She sat on the grass for the longest time watching the world around her, and then she started crawling over to me... and she didn't like the sensation of the grass on her legs, so she proceeded to crawl on her hands and feet. It was the most hilarious thing.

Well, now that you've seen my interpretation, go check out the other ladies and how they wore this outfit!

Because I'm too impatient for autumn

I know that we still have another month before the weather really starts changing and the autumn smells/looks/etc start breaking out... but since Provo has been having some stormy weather lately, a few trees have already started changing color. Just a few... but that is still enough to make me excited!

Here are some things I'm looking forward to this fall:

  • Wearing lots of emerald green
  • Boots galore! (I really love mid-calf and knee-highs, but the honey-gold ankle boots pictured below are cute...)
  • Sweaters - the cuter and comfier, the better!

Putting aside the statement necklaces and chevron for a moment...

There are plenty of great, cute American boutiques out there, and I feel like they all sell the same things: maxi skirts, chambray tops, chevron patterns, and chunky statement jewelry. Don't get me wrong, those things are great! I love a good statement necklace... I've got 50-zillion hanging up in my room right now. But sometimes, you've just got to change things up.

Have you considered fashion from other cultures? There are some great places and websites out there to help your broaden the variety in your closet, and I recently came across one called Coco Fashion. They sell Korean-style clothing for women, along with a selection of purses and shoes fitting up to size 7 feet in American sizes.

I have never taken a close look at Korean fashion before now, but as I've browsed Coco's website, I've noticed more than once piece that I would love to wear.

Take this super cute dress for example! Give me a sunhat and some fun shoes, and I would wear this dress all the time! It makes me think of having tea in a rose garden or something like that.

And the great thing about Coco Fashion is that the clothing items often come with more than one color choice. I can't decide if I like the color scheme of the dress above or the color scheme of this dress better.

And if you still want some great maxi skirts or dresses, Coco's got that covered too. Look at this gorgeous maxi... it's only $12! It would look gorgeous paired with a cardigan, elegant necklace, and some heels.

Not wanting to see more maxi dresses? That's fine... go take a look at their other items. Cardigans and trench coats and blouses, oh my! Not to mention skinnies, tunics, jumpsuits, and plenty of other choices.

That blue top would look so cute with a belt around it, don't you think? I feel like there are many creative things you can do with these Korean clothing pieces.

There are plenty of items that come in S/M/L, but you must take note that many of the pieces are one-size-only. Coco always makes sure to give you the measurements of each item so that you can figure out if it would fit you or not. The measurements are in centimeters, and the website gives you a nice centimeters-to-inches converter (for those of you who are like me and measure with inches). So if you do not know your chest/waist/hip measurements, now would be a good time to learn them!

Go click the little ad on my sidebar and check them out! They come out with new items every day (just check the "Daily New" section) and there are already hundreds of items you can look through. If you get anything from Coco, let me know about it and tell me what you think! And you must admit... their prices are wonderful.

Are there any non-American fashions that you love?
Don't you think that blue maxi is gorgeous?! Because I sure do!

Easter Dress

Dress: c/o eShakti // Shoes: Designer Footwear // Belt: Kohl's // Hair-flower: "borrowed" from my sister

I'm definitely loving my new dress that I got just in time for Easter. I just had to whip out my non-DSLR camera and get the Hubs to snap a few pics.
It's pretty cute, wouldn't you agree? I don't usually go out of my way to get dresses that are floral print, but this one was just too cute-looking to pass up, so I went for it. And yes, it has pockets. Pockets!!!!!

I actually got the dress from a website called eShakti. Have you guys heard of it? The website is pretty cool... you can customize your orders! They allow you to submit your own measurements so that the dress/shirt/skirt fits you just right, and you can change the length on the dresses/skirts and even change the sleeve length and neckline on some of the dresses and shirts.

My dress is below knee-length and I changed the sleeves from cap-sleeve to short sleeve. I love how it looks on me, and the floral pattern is perfect for spring. My only qualm is that the dress is hard to get off because the arms are a little tight. Maybe that's just me... but I think it's because the zipper is on the side of the dress. If the zipper were on the back of the dress, the problem would be solved! So... other than the fact that it takes me a little longer than usual to get the dress off, I really love it. Really truly :)

I wore it all day today and got multiple compliments on it. One girl even thought I made it myself... well, I'm not quite that talented, although I have made a dress before. I should show you guys sometime.

There's a couple eShakti skirts that I have my eyes on... you guys should go check out their spring line and see if you can find anything you like. Their clothing is all vintage style, inspired by the 50's and 60's with a retro modern twist. Some of those 50s sundresses... GAH, I die! Too cute.

In other news, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. I got to spend mine with my in-laws for an Easter dinner AND a celebration of 3 birthdays that happen during this next week. One of which is mine. Oh Easter.

I'm thankful for this opportunity I have each year to step back and really think about my Savior.
His Atonement means everything to me
And I know
that He

LIVES.

On that note... I hope that everyone has a wonderful week.
Spring is in the air... Let yourself be a little silly!

Mint, Coral, and Disney

I have decided that someday, I will own a wardrobe with outfits inspired by each Disney princess.

I just made that decision today.

Because of this pin that I discovered on Pinterest.

Darling. Just darling.

Also... the color "mint" is growing on me. I only have one mint-ish item in my wardrobe. This problem must be rectified soon. That... and I need more coral. I only have one coral item. Mint and coral are officially my must-haves.

Plus, mint and coral go well together, don't you think?

My only problem is that I just can't get enough blue. I mean... it's my favorite color, but do I really need all of the blue that I have in my wardrobe right now?

What am I saying? Yes. C'mon! It's blue! Blue is awesome, no matter what season it is. More blue = better.

Alright. That's my fashion rant for the day. Happy Friday tomorrow!

A new twist on animal sweaters

I really have not ever given much thought to wearing animal-themed sweaters.
However, after taking a look at the post this gal wrote to share here on my blog today, I'm kinda giving it a second thought.
I mean... just look at her owl sweater! Take it away, Lauren!

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Hi y'all! My name is Lauren, and I'm the blogger behind Fizz and Frosting. Since I'm a self-proclaimed clothes horse and shopaholic, I couldn't wait to share one of my favorite trends for fall/winter with y'all. No longer reserved for the twelve and under crowd, cutesy animal-themed sweaters and tops have stormed their way into the fashion scene in a big way, and even though wearing them brings out the kid in me, the last thing I want to do is come off like an overgrown elementary school child. So I've styled my favorite owl sweater for work and play. When it comes to wearing them casually, there really are no rules. Feel free to embrace the whimsy, pairing them with bright colors or mixing prints. For my casual look, I paired the sweater with skinny jeans, a polka dotted popover, and bright yellow heels. I also added a fun crystal necklace to keep the look playful.
For the office, it's a little trickier. I let the sweater be the fun, statement piece and made sure to keep the rest of the outfit conservative. A white oxford, a pencil skirt, and ladylike flats add a serious side. I kept my jewelry understated with a monogram necklace and my everyday watch. wear animal sweater work
So have I convinced you that you need a fun animal sweater? Here are some of my favorite picks: cute animal sweaters ASOS Cat Sweater / J.Crew French Hen / Sugarhill Just the Fox Ma'am / Old Navy Girl's Graphic Sweater So what do you think? Would you wear an animal sweater? Thanks so much to Ashley for letting me guest post today! I'd love for y'all to pop by Fizz and Frosting to say hello! Plus, I know y'all don't want to miss out on my Stella & Dot giveaway that ends Tuesday 12/11!

What did I say, guys?!
Don't lie. You want an animal sweater now.
